How to Prevent a Lice Reinfestation
Lice treatment is a big enough ordeal on its own. But having to worry about doing it again is not something you want to deal with. Reinfestation can happen and all it takes is just a few lice to do it. In fact, a single louse can lay up to 100 eggs in 30 days. It is very easy to have a reinfestation occur, so you need to take steps to keep this from happening.
First, you need to examine everyone in the family, even those who didn’t have lice the first time you caught it. You want to make sure it didn’t transfer to anyone. Secondly, do a thorough washing of all clothes, sheets, and any other fabrics that may have come in contact with lice. With hot water and detergent and then a high heat run in the dryer, the high temperatures will kill lice that may have still been on these items.
Soak brushes and combs in extremely hot water to kill off any lice or nits. It may also be a good idea to just fully replace your combs as well as get a hair cut to not only help the hair grow healthier again, but to make looking for lice and dealing with any further lice treatment a lot easier.
